Song: “Rebel Rouser” by Duane Eddy (I recognized from the Forrest Gump soundtrack, ha)

Subject: Bross vs. Mustafina on beam, kinda funny. I don’t hate Bross but Mustafina sure is prettier to watch.

For all of us gleefully rejoicing in Georgia’s failure to make Nationals, a reminder that they do have some nice gymnasts worth cheering for.
“I really miss the old days. Back when you could edit whatever you wanted however you wanted and it wasn’t so competitive. If we’re not careful, gym montages could go the way of Disney montages and become over edited.”
Yeah my biggest beef with gym montages is the song selections (mostly because I’m a little older than the average gymnastics montage fan) and the millions of Nastia and Shawn montages out there making it hard to sift through to find the others. Nothing wrong with Nastia or Shawn montage - every gym montager has to start somewhere, it just gets really tedious. I do think editing is a problem in that there is often times none or way too much.
That said, I love this song (even if it’s on Stick It) and Nastia always wins, so yay for this montage.
One of my favorite routines from Nast. 2005 Worlds EF - FX
Probably anyone gym-nerdy enough to visit this blog has seen this, but in case you haven’t check this out:
Hollie Vise - on VAULT! Yes, vault. After a 6-year hiatus, and looking way better than she ever did as an elite. *crosses fingers for AA chances at Nationals*
I think a lot of us in the gym world have a soft spot for her as she’s been around since forever it seems, and it’s nice to see how KJ Kindler has done such a good job pacing her and bringing back the passion in her gymnastics. I hope against hope she can take home an individual title on bars or beam this year, she deserves it.
It also makes me LOL at how she runs like a girl.
